Heat recovery units

Heat recovery units are used to transfer heat energy of compressed gas of e refrigeration unit to heat transfer agent (water, ethylene glycol and others) with its following usage for different purposes: to heat a floor of a low-temperature chambers, to heat rooms, to wash production lines, for daily living needs and so on.

Heat recovery units give a chance to get the temperature up to +80°C of a heat transfer agent in the outlet and to use up to 50% of heat energy of a refrigeration unit which is as a rule utilized through condensers.

The payback period of a heat recovery unit is less than three years!

Components of a heat recovery unit:

- Before condenser (shell-and-tube heat exchanger)

- Pump

- Hydrotank

- Valving

- Control valve with a temperature sensor

- Flow switch

- Wiring box

- Documentation

Rough calculation of a heat recovery unit:

While using the recovery unit, in case of water consumption during 6 hours a day energy savings (in case if to get heat the energy is used) will be:

485kW ' 6 hours/day ' 360days = 1 047 600kW, which is in monetary terms:

1 047 600kW ' 2,5 RUR/kW = 2 619 000 RUR.

In case of water consumption during 12 hours a day energy savings will be more than 5 000 000 RUR.

So, the payback period of the recovery unit is maximum one year! In case of getting heat from a gas boiler the cost of one kW of energy is considerably lower, but however, even in this case the payback period doesn't exceed three years!
