Unit coolers - Evaporators - Plate heat exchanger

Plate heat exchanger is a machine in which heat is transferred from a hot heat transfer agent to cold (heated) environment through steel corrugated plates that are set into the frame and swifted into the package.

Such a heat exchange construction ensures effective composition of heat exchange surface, and accordingly, small sizes of the apparatus itself.

All plates in the package are the same, but open each for other for 180°C, that's why, while swifting the package with plates, canals arise that take part in heat exchange process and inside which liquid flows. Such a plates arrangement provides alternation of hot and cold canals.

During heat exchange process liquids flow towards each other (in countercurrent). In the place of their possible overflow there is a steel platten or double rubber packing that practically excludes liquids mixing.

The type of plates corrugating and their number being set into the frame depend on operating requirements for a plate heat exchanger. The material of which the plates are made, can be different: from low-priced stainless steel to diverse exotic alloys which are capable to work with aggressive liquids.

The material toproduce sealing gaskets differs as well in dependance of operation terms of heat exchangers. Usually, they use different polymers on the basis of natural or synthetic india rubber.
